GameSpot has posted a review of DarkStar One today, calling the game - "...an outstanding return to the frontier spirit that made Elite so memorable."
"But although the flaws in DarkStar One can lead to some frustration, they never get in the way of that "just one more mission" mojo that can keep you playing the game into the wee hours of the morning. Fans of space traders shouldn't miss out on this one."

GameSpy has posted a very positive preview of DarkStar One.
“To be honest, it was difficult to tear myself away from DarkStar One long enough to write this piece. Even at this stage of development, the game is addictive on the minute-to-minute level, and the amount of depth it's insinuated thus far is just as enticing. What I've been playing is a near final version of the game, and barring some funkiness in the translation, it's performed without a hitch."

GameSpot has published its preview of DarkStar One
“Visually, DarkStar One is impressive thanks to a beautiful graphics engine… Indeed, some of the ships in DarkStar One look almost organic in nature, while others are a bit more conventional in terms of spacecraft design, but they still look good. There are intricate lighting and particle effects that kick in throughout the game, particularly during combat, that help immerse you into the void, and, in general, it looks so good that you may yearn for a similar graphical treatment for some of your favorite space games from a decade ago. From what we've seen thus far, DarkStar One seems like it may very well be a faithful heir to games such as Privateer, so that's good news indeed for space fans starved for some action. The game is scheduled to ship later this summer.”

GameHelper has published their preview of DSO
"While Darkstar One was originally developed for a German market, it seems like the game's translation has gone very smoothly since I have yet to find any grammatical or spelling errors. It seems like a lot of time, energy, and focus has gone into developing this title for the PC. With its August release date still a little ways off, the game could use a little polish with some minor framerate issues and some slightly campy voice-acting, but it looks like Darkstar One will be a worthy addition into any space combat fan's gaming library."

GameShark has published a very positive preview of DarkStar One
"CDV Software is one of the smaller companies that has interested me greatly for E3 this year – specifically given their development of DarkStar One, a fascinating space-based adventure and action game, mixed in the same vein as Freelancer or Tachyon. This morning I had the chance to stop in personally to check into the development of DarkStar One, something I consider a blessing given my instinctive desire to jump all over any space title offered my way."
